While FOX is looking to set people up with a spouse on "Married by America," NBC just wants to throw a wedding.

This being television, though, there's more to it than that.

NBC has announced casting calls for its new series "Race to the Altar," in which eight already engaged couples will traipse around the country, competing to win an all-expenses-paid "wedding of a lifetime" that will air as the series finale.

Of course, in theory, all weddings should be weddings of a lifetime. NBC means it in the sense of the winning couple having all their wishes for the ceremony granted.

The show, targeted for summer, is being produced by LMNO Productions, whose slate of programs runs the gamut from the Travel Channel's "Secrets Of ..." series to the FOX special "Man vs. Beast." The company is taking applications at www.lmnotv.com/race.

Open casting calls are also set for the following cities: Seattle, March 8 and 9; Memphis, Tenn., March 15 and 16; San Antonio, Texas, March 15 and 16; San Diego, March 17 and 18; Indianapolis, March 20 and 21; New York, March 22 and 23; Detroit, March 22 and 23; and Philadelphia, March 24 and 25.

Locations for the casting calls haven't been determined yet. Would-be contestants can get updates the LMNO web site or by calling (888) 751-8088.
